Annual Events 2008
The Northern Minnesota Builders Association relies on fundraising efforts of the membership to keep them going as a non-profit association. The following is a listing of all events that take place throughout the year:
Monthly Membership Meetings & Continuing Education
Monthly membership events are sponsored by members (September through May) the first Thursday of each month. Continuing education is offered to builders (1-2 credit hours) after the social & membership overview. The member sponsor works with the Executive Officer to set a place, set continuing education and covers the cost of a social hour for attending members. Approximately 35 members attend each of these monthly meetings.
Casino Night – Fun Night
This is a fun night for members and their guests. It takes place the first Thursday in April each year. The NMBA provides appetizers and beverages. Each attendee brings a $10 wrapped gift (to be used at the end of evening auction) and they receive $150 in play money. There are several game tables: craps, roulette, black jack and Texas hold’em style poker.

The Annual NMBA Scholarship Golf Tournament The Annual NMBA Scholarship Golf Tournament
This event takes place in June or July. In 2002 the NMBA gave out its first four $500 scholarships, handled through the Community Foundation; the NMBA will give out 4 scholarships each year. The annual golf tournament gives 100% proceeds towards the scholarship fund. The goal is to give at least four $500 scholarships away each year into the future. The NMBA set up an endowment fund with the G.R. Area Community Foundation to make this possible. This golf tournament is very important to the outcome of this fund! A 100% membership support is needed!
